Competing at the highest level takes more than talent, discipline, and heart. It takes funding, and for many athletes, that’s the hardest part of the journey. 

Unlike professional leagues, most elite athletes do not receive a salary. They rely on savings, small sponsorships, or multiple part-time jobs to cover essentials like training, travel, equipment, and medical care. 

These athletes represent the United States on the world stage, yet nearly half face serious financial challenges while doing it.

WHY IT MATTERS

When athletes are forced to choose between training and financial stability, their potential is lost — not from a lack of drive, but from a lack of resources. 

The Next Lap Foundation exists to change that. We provide direct, no-strings-attached grants to elite U.S. athletes, enabling them to focus on training, competing, and representing our nation with pride. 

Every contribution helps ensure these champions can continue to chase greatness without sacrificing their well-being. 

THE HIDDEN COST OF GREATNESS

Only 50% of athletes representing the United States received any kind of monetary earnings.

Average annual out-of-pocket expenses for medical expenses were $9,200​. Only 16% were able to receive reimbursements through NGB​.
